Competent Crew

Keel BoatThis course is designed for people who only want to sail as crew and not have the additional tasks and responsibilities of the captain. It is an ideal course for the sailing partner.

It is taken in conjunction with Basic Cruising. It has the same theoretical requirements as Basic Cruising; its the practical aspect that is more relaxed than that for the skipper.

During this course you will become comfortable crewing, under the direction of a skipper, a 20 to 30 foot keelboat under motor and sail. You will learn all the techniques and skills to become a prized member of the crew. On completion you will be confident in assisting the skipper make safe, local, daytime, cruises in moderate wind and sea conditions.
