Advanced Cruising
On this course
you will go on an extended cruise and cover such topics
as weather, optimum sail trimming, navigation, watch systems
and sailing in all types of weather conditions. You will
be challenged in many ways including performing different
crew overboard recovery procedures both day and night. You
will sail continuously for several days including overnight
passages. Full details of course material can be found in
the performance
standard.

You will put into practice all the navigation techniques you learned during Coastal Navigation. You will learn about various watch systems and experience at least one of them. You will prepare passage plans including contingency measures.
This course was described in one of Canada's leading sailing magazines as "Boot Camp for Sailors". Although a lot will be demanded of you we will plan on having some down time at some point during the course.
On successful completion of the course you will be awarded a Canadian Yachting Association (CYA) Certificate to add to your logbook which can be used internationally as proof of competency.
