Certificat restreint de radiotéléphoniste maritime
Maritime Restricted Operator Permit
Cellular phones are a wonderful addition to the world of personal communication. They should not, and in many cases, cannot be relied upon in on the water emergency situations. There are other advantages to having an onboard VHF radio including, but not limited to, continuous weather and safety broadcasts from both the Canadian and American Coast Guard.
Our instructors can train and qualify you in the use of marine radios, an important safety feature. Such radios, including hand held portables are now quite inexpensive. The annual station licensing fee has been abolished (if you only sail in Canadian waters) but the Operator Permit is still required. This permit is valid for life.
We have two options available, a facilitated seminar, or self study. In either case you will sit the same exam and receive a temporary certificate immediately on passing.
Prerequisites: Canadian citizenship or landed immigrant status
