"Hello, my name is HERO. I represent the spirit of Engine Company #16 at Morris Cove in New Haven, CT. I salute and celebrate the Heroes - the rookies, the crews' cooks, the veteran ladder jockeys, the chief - who throughout the East Shore's history have helped preserve the stability of Morris Cove."

Commissioned by the Connecticut Commission on the Arts ~ 1999

Vocational education has always focused on practical trade skill development. All of these skills have in common the use
of hand held tools. The tool forms are a metaphor for the students, alive with gesture, hanging out together in the School lobby.
